Audubon Birds for Ann.
Hello, I am a new blogger.
My Blog is going to be about quilts I have made as gifts for family and friends.
This quilt is a mixture of Machine Embroidery and Machine Quilting.
I purchased the digitised designs from BFC Embroidery Designs. They are their Audubon Birds.
I made the quilt for my work collegue who has left warm North Queensland to go to live in cold Tasmania. It is backed with Black Polar Fleece so it will be nice and cosy.
The birds are in pairs, male and female and the blocks are 6" square with 1.5" name tags underneath.
Because I wanted the birds to stand out and be the main feature of the quilt I sashed it with 6" black strips and put a 6" border around it. I then machine quilted all of the black with a 2" sq diagonal grid.

  1. Hi Kay, Glad to be your friend and follower. I will have to look up BFC as I haven't heard of them. We usually use Embroidery Lib for our patterns. What Embroidery machine do you have?

Your quilt nice and comforting. I'm sure your friend will use it a lot! LOl

  8. Welcome to Blog land Kay, your site looks lovely. Your quilt you made form Esthers design is Beautiful, what a achievement. Love it. Your birds are just as stunning but what a lot of work, or are they done by machine. Cheers Glenda

  9. Hi Glenda - Yes they are done by machine - but even so that is still a lot of work - I know some people think that Machine embroidery is just a matter of sitting in front of the machine and hey presto - it does itself! vbg.
